  • Since Stone’s debut in February 2019, the Golden Knights have been missing Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone, the team’s top two scorers (Stone: 138, Pacioretty: 128). When both Pacioretty and Stone are out (which has happened three times this season), the Golden Knights are 0-3-0, and 82-36-11 when both are available.

  • Reilly Smith has 18 shots on goal but has yet to score, second most among NHL forwards with zero goals behind only Nikolaj Ehlers of Winnipeg, who has 22.

  • Robin Lehner of the Golden Knights has a record of 1-4-0 this season, which equals his amount of regulation losses from last season’s 19 starts (13-4-2). Lehner’s all-situations save percentage of.904 is 29th in the NHL, and his even-strength save percentage of.903 is 37th.

Avalanche 2-3-0 record Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon are the top scorers (5 points)

  • Mikko Rantanen has a point in each of the season’s first five games, as well as goals in three of them. For the third time in his career, he wants to start a season with points in the first six games (in 2018-19 and 2019-20).

  • Since the start of the 2017-18 season, Nathan MacKinnon has 359 points. Only Connor McDavid (439) and Leon Draisaitl (439) have more in that time frame (380). MacKinnon’s cap cost for this season and next, before he becomes an unrestricted free agent, is $6.3 million. According to CapFriendly, MacKinnon’s cap hit ranks 94th among active players.

  • Since making his regular-season NHL debut in 2019-20, Cale Makar has averaged 0.92 points per game, which is the second-highest rate of any defender (minimum 100 games played), following only John Carlson.

  • Logan Couture and Timo Meier each have points in each of their first five games of the season. It’s the first time since Brent Burns in 2016-17 that a Sharks player has opened the season with at least a five-game point streak. Couture and Patrick Marleau were the last Sharks players to go on a longer point run to start a season in 2013-14 (Marleau’s streak lasted the team’s opening eight games).

  • Brent Burns, a defenseman in the NHL, has the most career goals (217) and points (726) among current blueliners. Burns earned the Norris Trophy as the top defender in 2016-17, then finished second in 2018-19 with 83 points, which lead all defensemen (a 1.01 points-per-game pace). His productivity has dropped in the last two seasons, to 0.64 points per game in 2019-20 and 0.52 points per game in 2020-21.

  • Goaltender James Reimer, who has played for three different teams in the last four seasons, has saved 50 of 51 shots (.980 save percentage), the greatest save percentage of any goaltender who has appeared in multiple games this season. Adin Hill, who was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in a trade in July and re-signed for two years in August, has a.890 save percentage to start the season. Hill’s even-strength save percentage is 1.5 percent behind expectations, according to Stathletes, and he ranks 33rd among 47 goalies who have appeared in at least one game this season.

The Predators have a 2-4-0 record. Roman Josi is the team’s leading scorer (7 points)

  • The Predators defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on Sunday, handing them their first loss of the season. Connor Ingram made his NHL debut, stopping 33 of 35 shots to join Pekka Rinne as the only Predators goalies to win in their first season.

Saros is one of five Finnish goaltenders to appear in a game this season, including Mikko Koskinen of Edmonton, Kevin Lankinen of Chicago, Joonas Korpisalo of Columbus, and Kaapo Kahkonen of Minnesota. According to NHL Stats & Info, Finland and Russia are tied for fifth place with Sweden (six) among nations outside North America with the most goalies appearing in at least one game this season.
