Arcane: Champions of the Forgotten Shadow has been a runaway success for Riot Games, with over 18 million players playing since its release in April. The company is celebrating by offering up new goodies and hosting premier tournaments focused around the game’s characters.
Riot Games celebrates the success of their Arcane series with in-game goodies, premieres, and tournaments. The “Riot arcane rewards valorant” is a game mode that was introduced to celebrate the release of the third installment in the series.
Is crossing over with oneself actually a crossover? Riot Games isn’t going to think too hard about it as it celebrates the success of Arcane, its new animated series, with a RiotX Arcane campaign that adds Arcane flavor to a variety of games, broadcasts, and esports events.
What exactly is the purpose of this promotion? The event is described as a “thank you to [Riot’s] players for helping to develop [its] IP with us over the years, and to [its] new viewers and players for continuing to push [it] forward, bringing the worlds you love to life,” according to a brief description on the event’s website. The entire thing began with Progress Days and Jinx’s introduction in Fortnite, and now it’s all about Undercity Nights as of yesterday.
This section of the campaign includes a new Vi skin, a 2022 preseason content rollout with new drakes, runes, and items, and a cosmetic makeover to Caitlyn, one of Arcane’s most renowned champions. The party is spilling over into Riot’s other games, with a new agent for Valorant and changes to Teamfight Tactics, while Arcane has expanded to games outside of Riot’s umbrella, with cosmetics for Among Us and PUBG Mobile.
Finally, on November 19th and 20th, the campaign will include live events honoring Arcane, including an original Arcane tale presented by Secret Cinema and the Riot Gauntlet esport competition finals pitting developers against gamers. In addition, on November 21st, Secret Cinema will host an in-person immersive experience in Los Angeles. There’s a lot of Arcane going on in a lot of various media right now.
Following a 2018 exposé of the company’s “bro culture,” which included sexual discrimination and harassment, Riot Games has become a divisive figure in the gaming industry. Several developers and high-ranking officials were implicated in the incident, which resulted in a developer labor dispute and walk-out. Former employees and the state of California have filed lawsuits alleging that Riot is refusing to comply with the inquiry.
