Paris Masters is a tennis tournament held in Paris, France since 1924. The event showcases some of the top men’s and women’s singles players from around the world.

The “Paris Masters” is the tennis tournament that will take place in Paris, France from 2020 to 2023.

After rebounding to defeat Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (5) in the Paris Masters quarterfinals on Saturday, Novak Djokovic will conclude the year as the world No. 1 for a record seventh time.

Djokovic, who is aiming for a record-extending sixth Paris Masters championship, is now one point ahead of American Pete Sampras, who won six year-end titles between 1993 and 1998.

“This week’s objective was to achieve that. I’m ecstatic to have finished the season as the No. 1 player “According to Djokovic. “It’s a fantasy, to be honest, since Sampras was a childhood hero of mine. He inspired me to take up a racquet and give this sport a shot.”

In 2011-12, 2014-15, 2018, and 2020, Djokovic was the year’s top player.

On March 8, Djokovic broke Roger Federer’s record of 310 weeks at No. 1 and will complete 2021 with a total of 348 weeks at the top.

Djokovic would go one ahead of fellow 20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal with a victory on Sunday, giving him a record 37th Masters trophy.

The top-ranked Serb has also advanced to his ninth final, where he will meet Russian Daniil Medvedev, whom he defeated in straight sets at the U.S. Open final two months ago. Since then, Djokovic has not played.

Second-seeded Medvedev defeated Olympic champion Alexander Zverev 6-2, 6-2 for his fourth consecutive victory against him, having previously defeated him in last year’s final. They are at 5-5 in the season.

The reigning champion, Medvedev, was unflappable.

He won the first set on his first match point at 40-15, when Zverev could only put a powerful serve wide. He also won the second set on his first match point at 40-15, when Zverev returned his strong second serve into the net.

Djokovic said of Medvedev, “He’s been playing unbelievable tennis.” “He’s not missing much, and he’s putting out a lot of food.”

Djokovic was playing in his 71st Masters semifinal, while Hurkacz was playing in his first.

Hurkacz, on the other hand, created the first break point of the match in the eighth game, which he took with a backhand volley at the net to make it 5-3.

With Hurkacz 30-40 down in the following game, Djokovic had an opportunity to break back, but he produced two sloppy unforced mistakes, and Hurkacz secured the opening set on his second set point with a powerful first serve that Djokovic returned long.

Djokovic fought back in a commanding second set, winning 4-1 and taking control of the final with a powerful serve game.

However, Hurkacz took advantage of Djokovic’s double-fault in the seventh game, giving him two break opportunities. After part of the fans celebrated his double-fault, Djokovic sarcastically congratulated them. On Thursday and Friday, the Parisian audience erupted in applause when players who faced Frenchman Hugo Gaston made blunders and double-faults.

During the changeover, Djokovic reclined in a meditative stance, as he felt considerably more at ease with a 5-4 lead.

Hurkacz was serving at deuce to remain in the match when Djokovic won a 25-shot rally to earn the first match point.

When Djokovic’s backhand fell slightly wide on his second serve, he saved it. He subsequently held an ace for a 5-5 tie.

Hurkacz’s weak forehand into the net gave Djokovic a second match point, and he won victory when Hurkacz’s full-stretch sliced backhand fell just wide.

Djokovic celebrated his win by pounding his chest three times and roaring, then applauding his opponent off the court.

“What a contest,” Djokovic remarked, “a lot of energy.” “It was a nail-biter.”

Hurkacz moved into the Top 10 for the first time last month and has qualified for the ATP Finals, which begin on Nov. 14 in Turin with an eight-man field.

Djokovic will also be aiming to tie Federer for the most ATP Finals titles with his sixth.
