If I wanted to convince you to listen to the latest release album by Victoria’s Iceberg Ferg, I could use descriptors like rollicking, fullblooded, understated, and virtuosic to describe the guitar playing. Or I could go on about the counter-tenor singing style, reminiscent of Canned Heat’s Alan Wilson. But an extensive vocabulary, or familiarity with other folk acts isn’t required to enjoy an album like Waiting On. Songs like “Let’s Make It Real” sound like they’re fun for Ferg to play. Perhaps that’s part of why I can’t get this album out of my head.
