In the Canadian electronic music duo’s second album Another Eternity, Purity Ring comes out and accomplishes what they do best: producing pulsating electro beats that sound like they belong in a fairy-realm nightclub. Megan James’ voice is as lovely as ever, shining significantly in songs like “Repetition” and “Sea Castle.” It’s a shame that Purity Ring decides to layer her voice with obvious auto-tune so often throughout the record, being almost a rude awakening to listeners that snaps them out of the hypnotic beats. Another Eternity gets the job done and delivers what listeners were wanting, but I was expecting more. Too many of the songs sound the same and don’t quite meet the potential that Purity Ring can obviously reach.
